choke adjustment or high idle cam, so close...

I have a 83 Daytona T.A with a lg4 and 5 speed. I have tried three different cc rochester carbs and could not get it to idle or run correctly. I recently installed a non cc rochester q jet and my low and high idle is fine. The choke light seems to stay on for a long time but eventually goes out. The issue I am having is whether it is running or not at temperature. If I floor the gas pedal the choke or high idle cam will engage and it will idle at 1500 rpm. Choke light will light up, I can kick it down by giving throttle. It seems to run fine otherwise. Any ideas? Also my oil psi is high, gauge is pegged. IIRC this is somehow tied into the choke? When I checked voltage at the choke connection I get around 11/12. The weird thing is when I plugged the wire to the choke the voltage reading goes down to 2? I think I did that with the car not running. I have learned a lot with carbs on this car and could probably use the CC carb but already bought a distributor and carb seems almost all set.
