smog pump diverter valve solenoid voltage

just wondering-my 1982 lg4 has a recent problem with the diverter valve constantly diverting to the air cleaner.I did a check of the voltages and the mc solenoid, egr solenoid and the switching solenoid all seem to have 12+volts with the engine running.I also did an ohms check and all of the solenoids read 20 ohms and up.if I by-pass the diverter solenoid and put vacuam directly to the diverter valve than air is sent to the switching valve which then sends air to the exhaust manifolds and then to the converter.I should say that all of the solenoids read over 12 volts except the diverter solenoid.it only reads around 8 volts.is it possible that the ecm driver for the diverter solenoid is bad?if so should I get a remanafactured ecm?

Re: smog pump diverter valve solenoid voltage

after searching on this site I found an ecm voltage chart.the a.i.r. diverting solenoid should have 12 volts with the key on.I there fore disconnected the ecm harnes to verify that the 2 wires going to the divert solenoid had no shorts to ground or to each other.I then priced out a re-manufactured ecm thru Autozone and with the kind assistance of a local mechanic that I work for some times I was able to purchase one at a discounted price..once the prom was switched and the ecm installed I was quite happy to have the 12volts present at the diverter solenoid.upon starting the car the smog pump and diverter and switching valves are now running in the normal fashion.
