glass or plastic?
 

I am replacing the top on my 1992 RS. should I spring for the glass window or stay with the plastic.???

Glass is way to go...even BMW stopped using on their vets...why they ever used plastic is beyond me...60s convertibles had glass

So, will the glass fit with the seat belt towers? That is what I have.

No. The towers hit the glass. You will have to change it to tonneau belts!! That is what I did.

Really a pain with the towers isnt it? I didnt know until my top with the glass in was installed. So, I found a set of tonneau belts and installed them. You could always put in lap belts like I did until I found the other belts.

I do too! For anyone considering, the things I have had with glass/ cloth top is your top will be a bit heavier to maneuver. And you'll need to move your rear seats forward to clear the glass then back. Those are minor compared to having the great look.

I changed mine out about 12 years ago after 13 years with the original. Time to do it again and I will definitely go with the glass. A little inconvenient but the visibility is well worth it.

12 years? Is that garaged? Just wondering since mine is garage kept.

Yes, it was garaged for the first 10 years and about half the time in the next ten when I moved from Atlanta to NW Florida. Never any road salt, snow or ice to worry about in either location. I always hand wash the car and am very careful about dust and other abrasives. Still, after about 10 years the plastic windows have gotten enough UV exposure and small scratches that has diminished the visibility. The material on the top has gotten some wear areas from lowering and raising it so maybe in a year or so, I'll replace it again (and get one with a glass window).
