Maybe have the local vinyl sign shop cut you some clear vinyl to replace it? Window tint guy should be able to hook you up with something too.

There is a specific "decal" that came from GM. I've seen them on ebay from time to time. I have one in the garage that I need to install on my T/A. If you want, I can go see what the p/n is on it.

Go to any place that does clear bra installations.

They can design and cut a piece to replace it.

I highly recommend Xpel Ultimate. Its a self healing film, so it won't get damaged from scuffs as the top is put down.

I had the entire front clip on my Focus RS done. I'd do the TransAm, but its cheap Maaco paint, not worth protecting. But when I repaint the car, yeah, its getting Xpel Ultimate on it.

You really can do this to the film and have it heal. The shop that did my install on the RS had a demo product stand where you could scratch it up with the metal brush and use a hair dryer to heal the scratches.

The GM p/n for it is 12520107. Try contacting 1992 Trans Am. I know he's out of the thirdgen game since he sold his T/A convertible a while back, but he still has a few NOS parts available. He had a couple at one point (that's where I bought mine from).

Have the whole panel done in Xpel instead of doing the strip. Thats what I plan on doing on my TTA conv clone.

There is a thread in this forum of a guy that was reproducing those. It was a few yrs back so not sure if he still does. I would not recommend a NOS part as after 30 yrs of sitting around who knows if the adhesive is still good, stickers do have a shelf life. If you use a PPF cover the whole panel as the OP said, you will not even know it is there. Most PPF's are self healing. I used 3m carbon fiber vinyl. The CF holds up well and is durable. It also does not show a line where the top sits on it, It also looks nice and have had quite a few comments on it, I will take a pic and post it later when I take the car out.

Re: Where can i get this?

Plastic in general starts drying out and decaying due to ozone/UV as soon as it is made. Expecting an NOS piece to stay pliable and stick without discoloring is a fool's errand.

Hard to believe in 30 years no one has come up with a better solution. :2cents:

Here is what I did. I should have removed the black vinyl "dash" and ran the carbon vinyl underneath.
