How Can I tell if my A/C has already been converted to an R134a? I popped open the hood expecting to see something indicating an R134a system in there but I didnt see a label on the A/C hose or anything it was just blank. Is there any other way besides that to find out if my A/C system had been changed? I am very curious to know as this car was manufacutred with an R12 system... Thanks |
R134a has different valve fittings than R12. R12 has threaded fittings, where R134a has quick-connect fittings. do you know what I mean by fittings? They are the things that look like oversized tire valves on the a/c lines. |
all thirdgen cars came with R12 systems factory. The easiest way to tell if it's been converted is to look for the different fittings - as was mentioned above. If still in doubt, a good mechanic shop will have an electronic sniffer to determine the content of your a/c system.:) |
