tough freeze plug. need a hand guys

so i (in my haste and lack of time) forgot to put any antifreeze in my cooling system . so one of my freeze plugs popped out of the block. it happens to be the one inside the passenger side motor mount. this is on a 350 in an 87 camaro.

i currently have the motor jacked up and the pass side mount off of the block. the block isnt cracked, nor is the freeze plug. it was a straight push thankfully.

now here's where i need a hand. it is a really tight squeeze in there and i want to put a fresh (or reuse the old one. motor has less then 5k on it!) plug in it. i really cannot remove the lower motor mount from the k-member without pulling the control arm. theres just no way to remove the nuts from the bolts.

so any suggestions for replacing the plug, short of pulling the motor? is it even possible to replace this one? :help:

Re: tough freeze plug. need a hand guys

I friend of mine ran into this problem on his full size Blazer.

What he did was remove the mount from the engine and transferred the bolt pattern to a flat piece of steel and drilled the holes. He positioned the freeze plug in the block and bolted the flat plate over the freeze plug. Tightening the bolts slowly and evenly, this pressed the plate against the plug and pushed it into the block. IIRC, he had to remove the plate and put a socket or something onto the freeze plug "cup" to push the plug into final position.
