Re: what is this part What year/engine does your car have? About where did you remove it? Looks like an EGR solenoid or something like that. |
Re: what is this part Never seen it - as asked - what year, engine, induction system - and what part of the car did that part come from? |
Re: what is this part 1 Attachment(s) 91 z28 350 https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/atta...1&d=1302898101 and i took a black peace off that covers them and i thought that was the problem but does anyone know were the fan switch is cant find it because when the key is in the on position the drivers side fan runs and that peace i unplugged worked the first time but now its doing it again i cant figure it out anyone know |
Re: what is this part Thats part of your emissions equipment, and is attached to your diverter valve (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par.../N-iwkdyZ9gsn8). That part is certainly not the cause of your cooling fan issue. Even if that entire assembly was missing there wouldn't be a problem, it seems like maybe the temp sensor that turns your fans on is defective. I am sure someone else can chime in on that, though. (Oh, dont worry about that price on the diverter valve, I have no idea why it is so high when that part is virtually useless) |
Re: what is this part You have dual fans right? If so ... Primary fan is controlled by the ECM. The ECM gets it's temps readings from the coolant temp sensor which is on the intake next to the thermostat housing - has 2 wires one black one yellow. This tells the ECM the temps, and the ECM turns on the fans. If your primary fan runs always, channces are someone rigged it that way rather than replacing that CTS. The seconday fan is controlled by the A/C - if your A/C or defrost is selected, then it will run always - so make sure your A/C and/or defrost is OFF. The secondary fan is also controlled by the fan switch, which is located in the pass side head between #6 and #8 spark plug. It has a single wire to it, and it has a funny mushroom shaped connector. DO NOT get this confused with the Knock Sensor, which is also on pass side and also has a single wire with the same funny mushroom shape connector - the Knock Senor is lower in the BLOCK, not in the head. The ECM is programmed to run the primary fan starting at 218 degrees. The fan switch is programmed to run the secondary fan at 238 degrees. Good Luck! |
Re: what is this part thanks alot to both you guy i didnt think that part did anything when i first took it off it started thats why i was wondering what it was and i think the fan switch is bad because i changed the temp sensor all ready and the air is of if the fan switch is bad will the car not start but thanks for the help |
Re: what is this part fan swithc will not affect starting or running of the car. Bad relay might though - some fan re4lays are tied into the alternator wiring somehow - but I'm no expert on these systems.. |
Re: what is this part so i dont need to switch that out or do i |
