1988 Chevy camaro 2.8l boiling coolant.

A little back round. I own a 1988 Chevy Camaro with a 2.8L engine. I took it out of storage as i live in Minnesota and the vehicle is usable about half the year. I noticed after idling for approximately 15-20 minutes the coolant starts to boil. It has blown my coolant reservoir cap off once already and i am stuck. one thing i have noticed is that the fans do not turn on anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

I would start by checking your coolant level and finding out why your fans dont work

Maybe check the radiator cap, if its not sealing, water boils into the expansion tank.Possibly, well before the fan comes on.

:yup: :yup: my car did the same thing, my fans now come on when I turn the key and she stays a nice 120-150 in dead stopped traffic

get back to to us with what u find, if you need to troubleshoot the fans it's real easy and I'd be happy to tell u how ;)

Trace your fan wiring.

Find the fault and fix it.

Boiling Coolant typically indicates a leak, or your getting HELLA hot in your engine.....

Your cooling system is WAAAYYY simpler that lots of people here make them out to be.

Do what W.E.G said!

Mine would did similar, it actually over heated after about 45 minutes in stop and go traffic over the summer, dual fan car, only one was running, passenger. Bad relay, replaced both as a pair as they were both original. Rebled the cooling system and it was fine after that.
