So my 85 is hot natured, I have to fans from a 96 V6A4 firebird and an original fan for the 85, the 2 fans being in front (grille side) of the radiator and the big fan behind it. I (to my own disappointment) have it all wired together to a key-on power source, no switches, relays or fuses (possibly, it may be wired to the original fan wiring but I cant really be sure as the PO butchered a lot of the wiring. My question is, what's the best route to go in cleaning the fan wiring up so it doesn't eventually burst into flames on the hot Louisiana days coming up? I just now have started messing with the car again after 3 years of sitting due to some issues with money and having 2 children in the process so I'd like to get everything g tucked up nice and neat and correctly before I put her back on the road.

Fix the overheating problem. Sometimes it's as simple as replacing a missing air dam, or cleaning the packrat nest out of the space between the radiator and a/c condenser.

Then build yourself a stand alone electric fan harness. You need one or two good fans, a relay for each fan, a fan switch that has a reasonable on/off temp threshold, a fuse holder or fusible links, some ring terminals, good wire, and some basic connectors, heat shrink tubing, and some time.

Something like this... Use good 10ga auto wire for the power from the battery, distribution block, or positive post of the starter to the switched side of the relays, and from the relays to the fans, and from the fans to a good solid ground. Use good HD relays, I like to use the stock 1992 Camaro style relays you can hang on a stock 92 Camaro relay bracket on the firewall. Use 14ga for the coil side of the relays. A stock style thermostatic switch can trip one or both fan relays to activate either or both fans, you can wire a manual override switch in parallel so you can force the fan on or let the thermostatic switch handle it.

Yea, I'm in the process of ordering everything to put the car back in proper working order, the air dam is the main cause of the overheating issue. I have an air dam off that same 96 bird but I guess the angle isnt right or something because while it helps a little bit, it doesn't help enough. The only time it's ever ran cool like its suppose to is when I had the chin spoiler off after piecing the front end back together after a wreck. It ran fine then. A constant 160. I will be wiring it to a manual switch, I'm a control freak lol thanks for the reply!
