Need some T.B.I. help

Working on a 95 1500 L05 here that we've converted to a GMHT383. I didn't feel like ordering a blank and adapter so I had PCMForless send me a chip. After I read the chip Tunercat wouldn't let me do anything with the file since I didn't have the $0 definition file and I'm not sure how I get that. The stock chip in the truck is a BJYL. I couldn't find that same code, but I believe the BJYM is compatible. The only difference I could see is that the BJYM is for a 3.73 gear only. Any thoughts or suggestions guys?

I'm not the prom begging/buying guy for those wondering. I've been programming cars and trucks now for years, but rarely have to touch anything anymore with a chip attatched to it. Back at one time I used to come to this board and post 25+ times a day. I lost alot of post count after one of the board updates, but still a site member and fan.

You are probably looking for $0D if you have a 4l60e trans. $OE if 80e.

Moates.net has a lot of bins, def files, etc.

I actually got it figured out. Now to try to get enough fuel to this thing. :gocrazy:

GM 30 PSI regulator and a TPI fuel pump will go a long way toward getting you there.

I'm planning on turning the fuel pressure up today. I figure I should be able to get least 32º of timing to it if I can get enough fuel to it. I'm also expecting to have to up the injector size. I'd like to put a bigger throttle body on it like the Holley unit or the L19 unit.

I would be surprised if you could put 26* into it @ WOT.

I drove it today with no KR* and around 29.5º of timing. Once the engine is broken in I'll get back out with it again and put a wideband on it. It went from a stumbling mess with the last file in it to a decent driver and tire burner in one re-flash. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Yes, I remember you when I use to do a lot of posting on the Tech/General Board.

So, do you have everything figured out now?

Yes, i have it all figured out. I'm always up for different pointers and points of view on these It was great to have the posts and links from this board to be able to give me some idea's on what to do. I do chip burning so rarely anymore that I need to dust the brain off on occasion. After years of F-Body owning I've turned to playing with trucks, but still miss everyone that I've owned. I'll own another someday.

A truck is also what I want for my next daily driver. I was toying with the idea of either an older truck and converting it to FI (and preferrably the 4L60E) or just getting a more modern truck that is "tuneable".

The only thing that's been holding me back is fuel economy. Even with FI, a truck is still heavy and has the areodynamics of a brick - neither of which makes for good fuel ecomony.

The way I was looking at it, with the Camaro gone the trucks were the next best bet. My truck came with 295hp (10 less than an 02' Z28), 3.73 gearing (overall not much better due to tire height), 8.6" 10 bolt rear diff (better than the stock 7 5/8" 10 bolt), 4L60E transmission (like a Z28), and my 5.3L can use almost every aftermarket part that the 5.7L LS1 can use. I also bought my regular cab short box 2wd for 19,700 with 6,000 in accessories already on it. It does help that I work for a Chevy dealer though. With pricing, power, and parts similar to what was considered a decent sports car I was in. My truck with the 20" wheels on it weighs in at 4480 with me in it and 1/8 tank of gas. With minimal mods, I ran a 14.28. My 86' Iroc when it was stock ran a 15.65 throwing every bag of ice or timing change to it that I could. The stock 190hp TPI took alot of work to get into the 14's. I've owned 6 F-Bodies and pretty much liked every minute of them. My truck gets about 22mpg on the highway if I run 65mph. My LT1 6 speed cars were getting around 30mpg on the highway and the 5.0L carb and tpi cars were getting around 28mpg. I do miss that. I recently dyno'd 309rwhp in very warm weather with the 20" wheels on the truck. I think my next car will be another 3rd gen (by far my favorite body style camaro) with a 6.0L or a 6.7L (408 stroker) gen III in it.
