Prom Reading
 

Hello,

Looking for input here. Have my Delco ATNY 5672 prom and a minipro programmer. Looking to find out what the underlying chip is. I am trying to read and write to it, and I cannot identify what the chip is. It is reading as id 0x47 47. I know this is a LB9 Memcal, but that doesnt give me what i need to read/write.

Thoughts? Anyone know who the manufacturer is for the chip? and the model number?

Typically in Delco applications:

24 pin will be a 2732(a)
28 pin will be a 27256/27c256, with some being 27512/27c512

All (Delco) OEM applications I have come across use EPROMs, that will require an UV erasure to erase. Typically due to age and being bought at the cheapest price possible, they do not generally last for many times being reprogrammed, some don't even like to program a second time.

Your best course of action is to buy new E/EPROMs.

Awesome! Mine was a 27c256. I was able to read out a bin file. I just ordered 2x AT29C256-12PC EEPROMS so I dont need a uv eraser to program the ecm.

@Six_shooter I don't see delco in the list of manufacturers on the minipro software... so what manufacturer would you use instead?

I believe I used microchip to read my stock bin, I bought atmel AT27C256's to replace the stock EPROM with an EEPROM

Ahh thank you scoutcamper. I'll try this manufacturer when I get home tonight. I was half tempted to just go through every manufacturer but it was getting late last night. I do plan on moving to the same EEPROM when I do start making changes.

Chip brand doesn't seem to matter when reading an EPROM in my experience, just the chip size matters. Most manufactures seem to use the same voltages for read and for the most part writing.
