Speedo recalibration Question.

This may be in wrong Forum?

1984 C4.

Replaced the 4+3 with a Tremec TKO 600 that I need to calibrate speedo with a Dakota Digital signal interface unit.

My options are to recalibrate a signal of 32,000-250,000 ppm(high speed) for an OEM speedometer

Or recalibrate a signal(low speed) of 32,000-4,000 ppm(not a typo) for a OEM speedometer

Or to convert a high speed signal to low speed signal from a newer GM tranny . This is my best guess.

Which do you feel is correct?

Other options exist to convert signal for a newer EFI computer. I am using a Dynamic EFI computer which is a converted GM TPI computer(92 Vette).

no clue on ebl but for a 730 on 8D. I remember being about to make the t57 signal output 4k for the stock speedo on a 91 camaro. I honestly don't remember how, but it's in there somewhere.

Re: Speedo recalibration Question.

The stock electronic speedometer is 4000 PPM, however there is a little yellow box (at least on the 89 firebird) "speedometer buffer box" beside the ECU that translates the 2000 ppm that comes from the sensor on the 700r4 to 4000 ppm to drive the gauge as well as sends a signal to the cruise control module. You will most likely need to bypass this in a ecu/engine swap situation, I did for the ls1 swap. However if your ECU outputs a 4000ppm signal already and it is programmed for the right tire/gear ratio then you don't need the converter box if your car has the electronic speedometer. If you have a cable driven speedometer then you would need the driver box.

I bought the Dakota Digital unit. The directions could be better. I wont hook it up till Spring. Trying to get educated on this over winter.
Thank you.

not to beat a dead horse but I just saw this guy on YouTube wire up the same thing I think you have.
