350 TBI Stock Computer (Caprice?)

Everyone says you can run a TBI Caprice computer in a camaro to deal with the standard 305 computer / 350 motor woes of TBI guys, but is this the entire TBI/Caprice computer, or just the 'chip'? I'm looking into modifying my 305 computer and i'm curious if i should just buy a radical chip (like a stage II Jet chip for a 305) or if I should get a Caprice chip for now. I'd really like to get one burned - but thats waaaaaaaaaay over my head. Any ideas guys?

On for a while.
Just read thru the archives here, and start paying attention, and you'll begin to *get it*. It's never been easier. And I doubt it could get much easier.

As far as running a Caprice chip in your ecm, no.

Yeah, no go on just the eprom swap, you need to change ecms to an 8746 (caprice and f-body). The f-body's got the 8746 ecm on the Lo3 with TBI from 89 to 92, 88 isn't a common ecm for TBI, only used 1 year. I do believe you can just swap in the 8746 ecm without doing any wire cutting, infact I'm almost sure of it, just never had to do it :).
If you get the 8746 ecm then yeah, the caprice ANLU.bin eprom will work nicely until you can start programming your own eproms. It isn't hard to program an eprom, with the visual software and simplicity of the hardware it couldn't be easier!!!
The ANLU eprom is okay but I hate how it controlled the torque converter lockup. The tables were so fubar it isn't funny. My first few runs with the stock ANLU eprom were like driving a car shifting with a wet diaper. It would unlock and lock really fast and slip the tranny to EVERY slow down below 40mph no matter where my TPS was! The stock f-body torque converter tables are a much needed for a more positive driving experience :D.

Thanks guys - hey grumpy, what'd u mean by "Once for a while...read thru the archives here and start paying attention"? I don't get your point. Perhaps you could clarify.

The 8063 ('88 TBI ECU) and the 8746 ('89-'92 TBI ECU) are interchangeable. The 7747 is also a direct replacement.
