dash lights go out...

My Accessories position doesn't work so I have to play my stereo in the ON position. I do this only to test my car stereo system.

Well anyways, after cranking up my stereo, when I turn on the headlights, the instrument cluster display lights do not turn on.
When I turn on the head-lights switch, simultaneoulsy, both the turn signal lights and the high-beam light turn on.

Imagine turning on the headlights, and the only lights you see on the instrument cluster are the green harzard lights (that do not flash) and the blue high-beam light. Everything else is DARK.

The headlights operate normally (the harzard light do not turn on, nor the high-beam.

After a while the instrument panel lights are normal again. It's like it resets itself or something.

only thing i could think of is the headlight switch is bad.

sounds like a bad ground. also don't overlook the plastic flexible circuit board on the back of the instrument cluster.

yeah, while driving your switch won't let you turn on the dome lights either.
pretty scary flying down a lonely freeway at around 2am at around 115mph (I say around cause my speedometer stops at 85 and I couldn't see my speedometer)....

My radio doesn't work either...

this all happened while putting my driver's side under-the-dash plastic thing back on.

happened 4 days ago too.

keep in mind my cluster isn't bolted on cause my gas gauge goes dead when I do that.

I'll let you know when I find out the problem.

okay, I solved my problem.
I have reason to believe that the antenna is power amplified... that was my short.... if you don't have yours hooked up, insulate the connector or connect it to something (preferrably your radio)

I ended up frying my 'tail' fuse when I discovered this.
