Working on airbag steering shaft?

I need to know if there are any precations to working on a airbag equiped car 90 gta. I need to get the shaft out to reroute my brake lines and install my headers and I'm a little worried about doing this because I've never messed with an airbag before. I already disconnected both battery terminals.

also pull the airbag fuse in the fuse box, since the air bag system has a backup battery, in the event that the battery is destroyed it still can be deployed, also disconnect the airbag assurance connector, under the column, it is in bright yellow wiring

yeah all you need to do is disconnect the batt, take the SIR fuse out, disconnect the yellow airbag wire under the dash. in that order.
