CANT REMOVE Remote Dimmer!!!

Alright, So my remote dimmer was fried when the dummies at Autozone recharged my battery, and they kill my remote dimmer module under the dash.
The radio lights went off, the HVAC lights went off, my gear indicator lights went off, along with the buttons around my Driver Info Center, (Digi Dash) never to be seen again.

ANYWAY, i ordered me a new one and went outside to try and replace my old one.

OMG!!!! How the heck are you supposed to get tools up there in such a tiny space to unbolt the thing?

ALSO, I tried just unplugging the old one and plugging the new one in, well, that didnt work, and when the unbolted one came into contact with metal, it blew a fuse.

My question is a two part one.

HOW am I supposed to remove that thing from such a tiny space?
And
Does the remote dimmer module have to be bolted in its original place to work? Because my lights still didnt come on with the new one plugged in, and headlights on.

Are you talking about the head light dimmer?

Im talking about the dimmer that is located under the dash, to the right of the steering column, above the convienience center, that's attached to the metal dash bracket.

Re: CANT REMOVE Remote Dimmer!!!

OK, so I know this is a very old post but did you ever get that remote dimmer out? My dash lights work but I have no control over the brightness. I've changed the thumb wheel but that did nothing, so I'm thinking it must be that dimmer module. But just like you, I cannot figure out how to get to it. I'm hoping that in the last six years you've had some success.
