(Frustrated) starting problem I have posted before about a starting problem but since then I did get the car started. But now I get nothing from the car after I turn the keypast the initial starting point. So far the following parts were replaced Starter, Coil, battery, and ignition switch on the column. Now, when I turn the key the steering wheel unlocks and the fuel pump comes on but the when I turn the key I get nothing. It obviously drains the power. The transmission will not even shift our of park. I checked the ignition fuse but it was good. I guess what I need is a trouble shooting list or a friend. Any help would be great. Brandon |
Re: (Frustrated) starting problem tranny wont shift huh??? do you have an electric hatch or remote hatch? |
Re: (Frustrated) starting problem I have an elctric hatch |
Re: (Frustrated) starting problem Ok, I have the car able to start now. It will still not come out of Park unless I push down the switch with force. The button lets the cable move but not past the point where it will engage reverse. Any ideas? |
Re: (Frustrated) starting problem Look at your ignition switch. The shift lock cable (the cable that prevents you from switching out of park when the key isn't in) is attached to the ignition switch. Maybe the switch is busted which would also prevent you from starting it before. |
Re: (Frustrated) starting problem i can cancel this thread I have the car started with a little bti of work on the ignition switch but now I am losing power after I turn the car off. I am trying to figure out if it is a bad hatch motor not shutting off all the way. Something. I jsut do not have the power to turn the starter over and crank the motor. I am just going part to part testing and listening. Hopefully I find the issue. I am going to check the hatch tomorrow, and then I was thinking about looking into a strong starter? |
