Rear hatch motor stuck down

To make a long story short, Last winter I took the battery out of my 86 camaro and stored it outside. This spring I removed the car cover and used my key to open the rear hatch to stow the cover. When I replaced the battery the motor on the rear hatch did not go up. It is stuck down, I have tried to use the switch to release it and that does not work, there is power coming out of the switch. the key will not make it pop. Nothing is working.
I have had the interior out chasing the red/white wire which feeds the power I see no problems there. The "actuator" I will call it on the deck lit itself seems to be fine it has good ground I am at a loss If anyone could help I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Thanks

Re: Rear hatch motor stuck down

Stick your finger in between the brushes and touch the switch to bring the latch up. Don't worry nothing going to grab your finger.

Re: Rear hatch motor stuck down

mine started to get stuck every now and then. I had to tap on the motor or the metal part of the latch with something and it would work again.

Re: Rear hatch motor stuck down

Well, the switch did not work, but I did find that the relay in the console is junk!

Re: Rear hatch motor stuck down

the relay did make the release button work but the motor still will not move, I was looking in the gm service manual and it said that there was an in line fuse between the ignition switch and the motor on a red only wire before it turns to a red and white does anyone know where that would be located??
