Underhood light

Does anybody know if our cars came with underhood lights from the factory? i've got a GTA and I would imagine it to have one, yet I don't and there is no wiring or harness ever showing there was one there. Is there an RPO code for this?

I pulled one off a 89 GTA (not yours ) a few years ago. Sounds like yours is missing.

TR9---lamp group, maybe. (My IROC has the TR9 RPO and does have the under hood lamp).

EDIT: Granted the following is from the Camaro White Book for 1985, but it 'may' shed some light (pun intended): RPO TR9 (auxiliary lighting) included headlight warning buzzer, luggage compartment and underhood lights, dome and reading lights; $37 with Berlinetta, $48 with Sport Coupe with roof console.

This is strange. I wonder why mine would be missing. I believe I've got all the other lights you listed.

excepct look at the retirement(junk) yard  i seen a ford 80s truck that had crome bummers and other stuff like it was ordered new with it and i was going to get a reel light off of it but it was more than any 8 ft so if your in a yard pop a few hoods maybe a little more info here on models

and quote from a different sites

"Wow, never thought they were worth that much. My 1981 F100 XLT has one since it
was equipped with the light package. I never really used it that much. Wish mine had
the underhood tool box which I think would be more useful."

"bronco f series"

" The unit is made by Hobbs & is close to what GM had in their trucks up to about 2002 or '03. If you're on a tight budget, these are easy to find in junk yards. I bought 2 of these on fleabay for $30 each."

googles loaded with info

Re: Underhood light

i had one on my old 90 and the hood i pulled off the iroc had it on it, my 86 doesnt however. its not a big help and really is pointless.

Re: Underhood light

Yea they are kinda pointless, but it's just one of those "wanna know" things. It's really pointless to spend 50 bucks on a universal hawks one. How often does anyone honestly do work in the dark without other sources of light? lol. Still leaves me wondering where mine went missing.

Re: Underhood light

that and they only light up the heater box, strut tower, and MAYBE the passenger side manifold
