Re: 82-88 tach fix Yes; it will work on MOST model tach's. I have fixed 3 various year model tach's. I have an easier way though. When I get home i will take pics. It involves tracing the wires from the Resistor-Pack to the edge of the board; where there is MUCH more room to solder a resister. Just clip the leads of the chip and trace the PCB-traces over to the side. Scratch the coating off of the trace and solder correct resistor there. mike |
Re: 82-88 tach fix tach board looks different for earlier models; but the same FIX works. |

Re: 82-88 tach fix Sorry, dont have a clue bout the filter. All 3 of the ones i fixed were the same problem. Resister pack symptoms: tach pegs; or tach is wildly reading high All 3 were the resistor in my case. mike BTW...all 3 were older tachs in my case. one '89, and 2 '86 |
Re: 82-88 tach fix I can sell you one i fixed for $45 + core. I do a professional job and I also replace the capacitors and carbon resistors that can cause a tach to malfunction. thanks, Greg |

I’ve sold about 20 without a single complaint. I calibrate them on my test bench, but some may need slight adjustment. I build in a potentiometer for fine adjustment. It comes with a 1 year warranty. |
Re: 82-88 tach fix BTW, circuit board is awesome and got my Tach working for the first time in years... |
Re: 82-88 tach fix Are you still fixing tachs? Need 86 fixed |

Re: 82-88 tach fix Not to dig up an old thread but I'm having problems with my 83 Z28 tach. I have two clusters and both of them peg the tach if i plug in the white wire at the HEI coil. Original cluster was a mess so i ordered a used one off ebay and everything else works now. But same results with tach. Seller says tach was confirmed working.... Sounds like this is the fix. I checked out your website and the replacement boards look awesome. The car was originally cross fire, now carb 350 with HEI coil in cap distributor if that changes anything. |
Re: 82-88 tach fix Hi ShuffZ. Thanks! This is a very common problem with these tachometers unfortunately. My replacement circuit board should fix your tachs and they come with a lifetime warranty. I will give you a discount for 2 boards or we can work out a trade deal if you don't want both tachs. Just let me know. Give me a call or text when you are ready. Thanks! Greg 318-402-1244 |
Re: 82-88 tach fix Hi, I've had trouble the rev counter, the other gauges jumping and live in the UK. Would you / do you ship to UK? |

Re: 82-88 tach fix For anyone who may be hesitating to pick up the Cajun Tach Shop board, don't. Put one in my car, and am SUPER pleased to not only have my tach be correct for the first time since I've owned it in 13 years, but it was also dead accurate right out of the box. @gcj280 Do you have any intentions of expanding to repairs/calibrations of other gauges on these cars or even others? |
