Need Help With Inst Lighting

Ok so about a month ago I was driving home at night and realized none of my dash lights worked, no gauges, heater controls, or shift indicator. All the gauges still had a reading just no light. I checked the fuse and it was blown. I replaced it and it worked. Drove the car into town for the day and noticed again on my way home i had no dash lights again! Im assuming i have a short somewhere causing the fuse to blow. Can anyone guide me through finding it or any tips? I'd appreciate it, thanks. Ps my brake lights still work, i've been told they can go out together but not in my case

Fuse Ruse

As you know you have a short.

What you can do to find out if it’s in the dash or if it’s in the line leading to it is:

Insert a 5 amp fuse immediately before the dash connector.

Replace the 5 amp fuse that keeps blowing with a 10 amp fuse.

While you have the 10 amp in there always have the dash dimmer on the brightest setting.

Now when the problem occurs find out which fuse blew.

If the newly located 5 amp blew, the problem in inside the dash.

If the 10 amp blew, the problem is the wire running thru harness, therefore you will know to repair or replace that wire.

By the way the
SHIFT indicator is on a different circuit therefore it not coming on might have been because the parameters were not met or the bulb is toast.

Happy Racing !
