Brake Lights I had my turn signal switch unplugged for some time, and eventually the tail lights stopped functioning (within a span of 2 weeks of each other). I checked to see if the bulbs burnt out by turning on my lights, and every light inside seems to light up. I am not sure whether this is due to a bad ground or something different altogether. Turn signal switch was fixed and then plugged back in as well. Thoughts? |
TransFormation Using a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) probe both sides (one side at a time) of the STOP HAZ fuse. Is there power on both sides? If yes, probe the light blue wire that does NOT have the black stripe at the brake light switch. Is there power there when you depress the pedal? A defective or loose connector on the hazard switch can cause that problem. While keeping the brake pedal pressed, probe that blue wire where it enters the steering column and heads towards the hazard switch. If there is power there, probe the green wire at the hazard switch. Is there power there? If yes, probe the green wire at the connector input and output at the left rear of the car which feeds the taillight assembly. Is there power there? If yes, probe it at the hot side of the right brake light socket. Is there power there? Wire colors vary between TransAm/GTA’s.
