AC delete - blower not working

I searched as much as I could and found lots of articles but not my question.

I removed all A/C components from my 1991 Camaro. I installed a fiberglass delete box and non ac blower motor. I reinstalled my old AC resistor. That connection is plugged in. The relay is connected in that same harness as well. There was a 2 prong connector for my old AC blower motor with purple and black wires going to the connector.

I cut the connector off those wires and connected the purple wire to the single blade terminal on the new non ac blower motor. Where does the black ground connect then to ground the blower?

I am getting 12 volts to the purple connection at blower if I ground the black wire to battery (testing in middle of that connection) but I don’t think that’s grounding the motor. It’s not turning on.

what am I missing guys?? I can’t ground anything to the fiberglass box obviously. How does that motor see ground to complete the circuit?

thanks for any help!

What if you touch the end of the black wire to one of the mounting screws of the blower motor?

Put the shorter fan on your old motor. Plug it in like stock. Done.

Swap fans again to put AC back in your car someday.

He might be using the AC delete fiberglass box that is designed to use your old AC motor and fan.

that didn’t work by itself. I ended up connecting the old ground feed (from the connector I cut) to the fan mounting screw as mentioned AND running a new ground lead from fender to same mounting connection spot (double
ground) and it now turns on. Assuming the ground that’s actuallly doing anything is the fender one, but wanted to be sure the other may also be needed for something else?.

Only getting 3 speeds though. What do I have to do to get relay sending high speed signal?

i wish I would have done that before I threw out old motor.

Didn’t plan on putting a/c back in the car at the time so I got rid of everything. Wish I wouldn’t have, but oh well…

for context to this content, my AC delete box is the narrow version requiring the small non ac blower motor unfortunately.

the small harness the works the A/C & Heat. is on the same side just below the box you installed.
see the harness below the heater core lines. also note the 2 vacuum lines coming out with the harness. its a stand alone harness.

it will have every thing ya need and anything you dont need can be tucked into the passenger side fender (hole) right now its tucked into the strut tower in pic.
