Retro Fit Tremec T56 T-56 Upgraded Trans-T5/Muncie

3 Attachment(s)
This is a Retro Fit T56, built for adapting the strength and performance of the T56 transmission, to older GM style bellhousing, clutch, and speedometer setups. This T56 was run less than 1000miles before being pulled out and stored. The transmission was completely torn down and inspected. You can see the synchro teeth on the gears show no wear at all. This is basically a new transmission, but being sold as used/remanufactured. The transmission was upgraded with a steel 3/4 shift fork, and billet steel synchro keys on both 1/2 and 3/4 synchros. The result is a torque rating in the 500+ ft/lb range! You will not get this level of performance from the big T56 shops that sell lesser transmissions for way more than what you can have this one for.

This link has a lot of background, technical specs, and links about the retro fit:

Here are some of the main features that make this T56 so special:

* Retro Fit gear ratios :

1st-2.97:1
2nd-2.07:1
3rd-1.43:1
4th-1.00:1
5th-0.80:1
6th-0.62:1
REV-3.28:1

* Carbon Fiber synchro blocker rings

* Front steel adapter plate drilled for both Muncie/T10/saginaw bellhousing, and the 18deg rotated bellhousing used by the T5 Camaro/Firebirds

* Billet Steel synchro keys on 1-2 gear and also 3-4 gear. Broken stock stamped steel synchros are a major reason for failure under high horsepower applications.

* Steel 3-4 shift fork as found on viper T56s. The stock aluminum 3-4 shift fork will commonly bend under high horsepower applications.

* Tail housing and mainshaft setup for mechanical speedo gear.

This is a high quality rebuild with the highest level of attention to detail. Here are the main shimming specs that were used for a performance rebuild:

Main shaft: 0.002" Preload
Counter shaft: 0.003" Preload
Counter shaft extension: 0.002" End-Play

Case and all parts were cleaned and inspected. The case was not sand blasted to keep grit out of the internals.

For detailed pictures of the build please contact and they will be Emailed to you.

Local pickup is preferred, but shipping would be $100-$150 depending on your location.

Standard 26-spline input shaft, and "27-spline", standard GM T56 output shaft..

Please feel free to contact with any questions.

$1999

one and only TTT... For those of you with a big HP motor and a wimpy T5, you won't find a better/easier trans and deal.
