blown 327 project

alright, i've been going back and forth on keeping my car or selling it. It wasn't till today that i decided to keep it as a weekend/summer driver( i plan on getting an s-10 to drive to work and school.) So today i bought a 327 out of a 65 el camino for the camaro. the carbed 305 in it now has 114k on it and as you all know has no power. I'm trying to win awards with this car, i just want to up the power and make a fun car to drive on the weekends. Here is my idea for this motor.
1. forged low compression pistons
2. aluminum heads
3.intake that complements the whole setup
4.nice cam(blower grind)
5. vortech sb chevy carbed supercharer
6. demon carb

I'm not sure if this is the first time that someone has done this and i know that i'm gonna here people say go with more cubic inches but the motor was a good deal and i'm going with it. I'd really like some opions on this idea and let me know if i need to add some things to the list. I'd especially like some opinions from people who have this supercharger set up.

I have never been a fan of supercharged carb cars, but who am I to tell you how to build you car. That combo sounds like a winner. The trick will be finding somebody to tune the carb for useable street/strip power. I say this because carbs don't come out of the box ready to go and they are very tricky when it comes to blow through designs.

here's a pic of the car that it's going into

Chevy High Performance magazine did a 327/Vortech engine buildup several years ago. Don't remember the exact year or month of the issue, but it is probably listed at thier website under Back Issues. The combo made some insane power! Maybe you could find that issue and replicate thier results.

The cam was 230/246 @ .050. It was a serious motor.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Nothing about supercharging is going to be ready to go out of the box. Using a carb isn't going to change that, and BG can set you up with a blow-through carb that will only need normal tuning.

You said, "I'm trying to win awards with this car, i just want to up the power and make a fun car to drive on the weekends." Did a "not" get left out of that sentence?

Ya it sure did, sorry about that. As for the magazine article i'll try to find that. Thanks for the info.
