headers on a sbc question

I got a set of flowtech headers. Engine is out of car now. Is there any problems with me putting the headers on and stabbing the engine? Or do i need to put the engine back in first, thinking someone knows. I did a bbc in a 3rd gen and i know those could not be put on the engine then stabbed. Shed some light please and thanks

Stabbing the engine? Why would you stab your engine?

Im not trying to be funny, i dont know if thats slang for something else like "start" or "run" or just "dropping" it in already attached.

Anyways, if you mean can you put the engine in the car with the headers attached, the answer is yes and no. Some headers will fit, most will not though. You will get interference with the steering shaft most likely.

Maybe it is slang to you, or maybe a generation gap. Everyone i knew growing up called it stabbing in an engine. That was in the 70s and early 80s. Or could be a South thing.

I stabbed mine twice with the Hooker 2055's installed (w/o Y-pipe, of course).

I think the best thing you could do is get better headers first. Not much good you can say about Flowtechs ("cheap" is not necessarily a "pro").

five7kid, your proabaly right, back when i did not have a fixed income it was the best of the best. I had a 3rd gen with a 468, still have videos and pics. She was a runner, trailer car though not street, it was running 6;30s in the 1/8th all motor. For now i will have to stay with the flowtechs , unless i get a good deal on some hookers that is what i had on my old drag car was long sweep. I did stab the engine and bolted it down, headers are on. Maybe in the next day or so i'll get to hear her run again.
