l98 wire harness questions

I know this question has been answered but I cant find it.I want to put an L98 corvette engine in my car to replace v6.Vendor says I need a wire harness from earlier car,Corvette is 1991,to run the engine and that the Corvette ecm will not match up with inside harness.Said I would need to have ecm that does not have "vatts" since my car doesn"t.Trying to do a swap on a small budget.

Re: l98 wire harness questions

You might be able to mod the vette harness to work, but it would be easier to just find one and swap it over. What year is your car? That makes a difference getting stuff working in the car, plug and play. And if your car doesn't have Vats, then you need a VATS simulator, a PROM without or a memcal adapter and a chip. I just got the memcal adapter, and a chip from Tuned Performance to delete the VATS from my car.

Re: l98 wire harness questions

You can run the Corvette engine off a Camaro wiring harness and computer. The Camaro ECM's (p/n 1227730) are probably cheaper for one thing. The chip has the VATS on it, but that can be eliminated pretty easily by altering the calibration.
