This is the one I am going with next Spring. I had a post in the Tech/Engine forum and alot of good info from the guys. You want a Roller Cam instead of a Tappett Cam is what I was told. And after me research I see why the guys recommended a Roller Cam.
There is a deluxe version of this engine that comes with Intake, Carb, Distributor, wires and plugs.

Same engine I'm considering, but I found it through a Chevy dealer for $1899. CableDahmer.com.

You found the 350/357HP for under $1900?

Its a 350/195. Shouldn't take a lot of money to improve HP. If you want plug and play, it would cost around $6000-$8000, but that would be everything you would need to just start driving. Good luck...im regreting not going plug and play route now.

Yes ok. I’m aware of the cost to make that 357 Engine work. But you made it sound like you got that same Engine I listed for $1900.
The L31 for me in Canada is only $833 less then the 357HP one so it’s an easy choice for me.
mom getting my Scoggin Dickies intake next week, and I also purchased a 1st TPI System for better tuning and get more HP from the Engine over the stock TPI system.

Sorry about the confusion.

No worries man. I just wanted to be clear you never found some great discount on that Engine. At that price it would have been worth it for me to ship it and pay the US/Canada exchange rate

This is closer to the plug and play the OP was asking about.

FYI, just purchased the 255 hp L31 from Cable Dahmer (off EBay) for $1949 plus tax. Got it in two days, too.

If that question was for me, then no I have not.
I just built a new large garage so I now have the room to store my Car at home and I can pull my engine out over the Winter.
So it’s either getting built or buying the 350/357. I’ll decide probably in March what I’m doing.
By that time I’ll have the engine bay all Cleaned up and painted.

Re: What new 5.7 engin

Pipe dream.

In a general way, engines you can buy for ANTIQUE cars like ours, won't come with accessories. Every chassis has different those, to a greater or lesser extent; gotta re-use, renew, restore, replace, what your car came with, if you want em to be "like new".

A 196 HP 350 is built out of THE EXACT SAME parts that the legendary 145 HP 350s of the 70s were built out of. Buy that, stick it in your car, you will get, AT BEST, ... 145 HP. It is The Dung. To increase the HP, you buy one of those, then throw EVERY SINGLE PIECE of it other than the block, into the trash, and begin to build something else. Well, maybe, if your goals aren't too lofty, you can use the crank and the rods. Butt FOR SURE, you'll be getting rid of the pistons, the heads, and the cam; and of course at that point, you have VOIDED whatever warranty it might or might not have come with, also VOIDING the benefit of buying a "motor" instead of building one.

What's your goal? What's your BUDGET? (what's your bank balance RIGHT NOW, TODAY) What else do you have in your life that you're looking forward to? Education, a home, a member of the complementary sex, move to somewhere other than BFE, ... ??? Be realistic.

What kind of car are you staring out with? What facilities - tools, garage,, your other car, bus pass, ... - do you have access to?

What’s a pipe Dream? That’s a long winded reply that IMO makes no sense in regards to buying a crate engine??
