Corvett exhaust sound
 

How does the corvett get its unique tone. Is it possible to have the same on our cars?

i believe the Vette has duels instead of a single pipe like ours. (DONT KNOW THOUGH)

I believe the sound has something to do with this,,

ut I want the vette sound myself,, I think the biggest key is the mufflers being the last part of the exhaust,, where our cars lack in space to put anything but bullet mufflers. The one thing, as you can see by the pics though, is the corvette does not have a true dual exhaust either. **guessing here** I think the stock vette exhaust has such a sweet quiet tone because the car has to pass a noise emissions test and the mufflers have to choke off (power by restriction) more of the higher pitched tones to remain queit,, the depth comes from not haveing much pipe after the outlets (like the way flomasters are obnoxious loud w/no outlet pipe and close to the headers)

If I ever get my bird running worth a damn the exhaust and paint are next. I've been messing with trying to make a quiet muffler that can fit in the area where the tips normally go. I've got one made now attached where the converter was with a 6" outlet pipe,,, it sort of loud like a flowmaster,, only none of the higher pitch (cackle) to it. I think it's possible to get the sound close and not have to get to extreme with modifying the existing exhaust,, like making it true dual,,, never know tho
