dual exhaust with a 3' muffler

ok here is the deal...i have some hedman shorty's with some catco universal catalytic converter and it is all 2 1/2 and the piping will also be the same size...problem...i ordered Borla XR-1 round mufflers that have a 3' inlet and outlet...so will this hurt my engine power??? i have a 350 that i am barely fixin up..i still need to add the intake, msd ignition and cam....and like i said this is a dual exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheels...and yes it will fit...a little low...but not enough that it will scrap alot...so any suggestions...should i return or keep em and see what happens....thanx......

Oh this is awesome, i am doing the same thing, except with long flow headers, My mufflers are going right under the rear seats, how about yours? By the look i am saving about 1 1/2 inches..

we tried to mockup a similar setup yesterday morning with my '82.

to fit the mufflers under the rear seats you will have to beat the pan up with a sledge (i would atleast). we were using Flowmaster 40's though...

the 3" I/O muffler is very easially adapted to the smaller pipes, and no it won't hurt performance at all.

mine are also going under the seats as well....the only thing that i am wondering is how it all sound and work with the headers, cats, and borlas all being installed one after the other....i mean the entire thing is going to be one short chain of components with the end being about 3 feet of piping....and thats it...this is going to be fun...i hope it performs well and looks nice...clearance i am not worried about since eventually i am going to be using 18' rims so that should raise the car a little and i am going to redo the suspension and maybe lower it depending on what happens with the exhaust.....how much did you have to bang below the carseats to fit your exhaust man....
