edelbrock ti tech coated headers, 3'' y pipe, 3" hi flow cat, 3" mandrel bent flowmaster cat back (american thunder)

this car is so much faster!!! it sounds better than hearing "youve won a million dollars"

:)

nick418 08-29-2005 07:16 PM

j00der? looks good.. Any sound clips?????

90-irocdx3 08-29-2005 08:29 PM

looks nice! looks like i will be having a red iroc vert soon! chrome tips keep them shiny dont let them get rusty. Whats next on the car as far as peformance?

DanTheMan_smlk 08-29-2005 09:42 PM

thanks guys!

next is some kind of intake, most likely custom made cause i dont want to relocate the battery for an SLP intake. My primary objective for now is maintence cause the car needs new suspension and brake work done. Once i get all that finished, i want to get a composite driveshaft and SLP siamesed runners (dont think they will help much but oh well  )

after that i will save my money for quite some time to get a rebuild or new engine

90-irocdx3 08-29-2005 10:20 PM

if u want some slp runners i have some. pm for more info.

bryan

vrtc350 08-29-2005 10:48 PM

wow!

Very nice!

I can't wait until I get my stuff finished. With 9 hours a week (if my lucky) and an empty engine bay, thing are moving slow.

Oh, and you need to change that backboard and put a BIG UK on it!! :) j/k

DanTheMan_smlk 08-29-2005 10:57 PM

thats not my property btw, those are the neighbors :)

transporter 08-29-2005 11:08 PM

I have just about the same setup and I'm just not that happy with it. Just doesn't sound good to me. Would love to hear how yours sound. I'm looking for something else, just not sure what. Glad you like yours though. Looks good.

DanTheMan_smlk 08-29-2005 11:30 PM

wow..i really like it, it sounds so nice....the best part is it doesnt sound like most cars out there
i will have sound clips as soon as i get a digital sound recorder

theshadowmonkey 08-30-2005 01:00 AM

looks sweet man. sure you felt the bottom of your seat dyno workin pretty well!

BT283 08-30-2005 02:30 PM

DantheMan...You got a 3" ypipe? Is it in the factory location (drivers side pipe going between the k-member and oil pan? and if so is it mandrel bent?

DanTheMan_smlk 08-30-2005 06:31 PM

oh, excuse me...in my excitement i forgot to specifiy that the headers collect into a 3 inch y pipe....im not sure how big the pipe under the oil pan is...most likely 2.5 inches

everything is 100% mandrel bent though

82knightrider 08-31-2005 03:22 PM

Very sharp.I cant wait till my car has some good exhaust.Right now both my birds have the stock set up.Very nice Dan:thumbsup:

DanTheMan_smlk 08-31-2005 06:23 PM

i guess i should pick up a digital sound recorder at walmart or something tonite...

DanTheMan_smlk 08-31-2005 08:19 PM

negative on that, digital sound recorders are like 50 bux

how do you people record your exhaust? I dont have a video camera

BT283 09-01-2005 07:36 AM

you can get a 6 hour digital recorder at Walmart for like 27 dollars here

DanTheMan_smlk 09-01-2005 12:37 PM

how do you get it on a computer?

BT283 09-01-2005 12:57 PM

i dont know for sure, but i would guess a USB cable, again just a guess

DanTheMan_smlk 09-01-2005 02:01 PM

the 17 dollar ones dont have j00SB cables or plugs for them

vrtc350 09-01-2005 03:19 PM

Memory stick of some sort?

Most likely it uses a USB cable that is just like a digital camera, small pin in one end, USB in the other. You can buy those cables at Office Depot, Staple, etc

BT283 09-01-2005 03:37 PM

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Digital-Voic...QQcmdZViewItem Here is one on Ebay for 30 dollars and it attaches to your computer and it also uses USB cable

BT283 09-01-2005 03:47 PM

http://search.ebay.com/digital-recor...fkrZ1QQfromZR8 Or do this there is alot of them on Ebay

DanTheMan_smlk 09-01-2005 04:43 PM

most of them dont have usb cables

Auggie 09-01-2005 04:55 PM

You might want to turn them muffler clamps 180*. Might look nicer from the rear. Just a thought.

Auggie

DanTheMan_smlk 09-01-2005 04:57 PM

u cant see the clamps unless you are lieing on the ground so i dont care too much

BT283 09-01-2005 05:51 PM

The first link i posted comes with a usb cable and for the ones that dont you can probably use the one that links the computer to the printer, or dont you have a digital camera?

DanTheMan_smlk 09-01-2005 06:37 PM

i looked at them and they only had headphone, microphone, and power cord plugs :(

BT283 09-01-2005 07:08 PM

You can buy a USB cable from anywhere, that is if you dont already have one

DanTheMan_smlk 09-01-2005 07:12 PM

i have one already, the recorders dont come with USB ports

BT283 09-01-2005 07:28 PM

yes, the first link i gave you does HAVE a USB port, Did you read it, it has computer requirements and one of them is an open USB port, http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/8...alsound8kx.jpg

DanTheMan_smlk 09-01-2005 08:39 PM

yes THAT one does, but i dont want THAT one...its weird lookin and its on gaybay...i dont like buying stuff i cant see and hold in my hand

DanTheMan_smlk 09-02-2005 11:55 AM

BT283 09-02-2005 01:15 PM

It has like 130,000 miles and i dont have any pics, but its a southern car so it has no rust, it snows like once every other year here!

RArnold 09-03-2005 10:34 AM

so the y-pipe was an edelbrock part? what cat did you use and it was an easy bolt up ??

DanTheMan_smlk 09-03-2005 02:44 PM

yes for 400 dollars you get coated headers and y pipe. i bought like a 16" high flow (carsound) cat....i thought it would be a direct fit, but it wasnt. I didnt bolt the cat to the y pipe, i had everyting (including the pipe) welded at a cheap-o exhaust shop for 70 dollars.

you wont be able to bolt on the cat unless you get a direct replacement, its all confusing and i ended up getting the wrong thing but it was going to be welded anyway, and this cat i bought is slightly smaller so maybe less restrictive

DanTheMan_smlk 09-25-2005 08:17 PM

here is a slient vid of my car...tell me if the pipes are too low.
