will stock manifolds work on Vortec 350
 

alright I have everything except exhaust to put this Vortec engine in the camaro and have one question. I have read on here the stock 305 manifolds will not fit on the Vortec 350 and even though I was planning on getting headers down the road I wasn't going to do it right now because my 16 year old son will be driving it every now and then and well want to keep it down as much as possible right now. Can anyone tell me why the original manifolds will not fit, or if they will tell me why others say it wont like what problems they had. Also will I have to buy headres especially for the Vortec heads or something because if not I just don't understand why the manifolds will not work because I thought just about all SBC parts were interchangeable (I know about the intake and stuff but not sure about exhaust manifolds)

The location of one of the outer bolt holes is different.

so how about headers? will a set for the camaro work or will I need a special set for the heads because of this bolt?

Headers will fit fine. They all use the traditional bolt pattern, unlike the stock manifolds.

headers will work fine.
some of the newer heads 76+ have this extra threaded manifold bolt hole.
also IIRC the stock manifold may work too, Ive never had an issue.
