wideband sensor placement for dual exhaust

i am about to get a wideband sensor for my 91 rs. it has a carbed 350 in it with a dual exhaust. it does have a x-pipe in it.

my question is, would it be better to get 2 widebands and put one in each extension, or would it be just fine getting one wideband and putting it in the x-pipe section?

Most times 1 in the header(LTs) will be fine.

If you are concerned you can put one in each header. If you are boosted or N20 I would do this.

If you put it too close to the X then your reading will be washed from the other bank anyway and 1 would be just as good.

so you are saying just 1 in 1 of the headers is fine? i figured if i put it in the x section then it would kind of read the average of both. i dont know if that makes sense lol

Yes. You can do it there if you like and only run 1.

The recommended them closer, but I haven't seen much difference from headers to exhaust. The further back, the "leaner" the reading will be. How much difference that makes, I honestly don't know.

i guess it makes sense to just run one. as long as the carb is set-up the same on both sides. i could even get an extra bung and put a bung in each one and swap the sensor from side to side if i wanted to
