Re: Hatch Louvers

Vengetta82, I see this post is a bit dated, but thought I'd chime in. I just completed making one bracket for my louvers. Fortunately, I had one to use for reference so I just needed to build the second. It only cost: $7 for a sheet of 22 gauge steel from Home Dept, and $1 for a package of 3/4" length bolts. Used a handful of tools to build: dremel to cut the piece from the metal sheet, vice to hold the metal, vice grips to bend and a hammer and metal punch to shape it into place, and a drill. I did end up case hardening the metal with oxy torch and dipping in oil. 1 1/2 hours later, I had a complete bracket.

Can send pics if you are still looking for a solution and need to see a bracket for reference.

:thanks:

yeah i ended up doing about the same thing... i grabbed some 18 gauge from school and made some brackets and bolted them on so i could remove the louvers if need be. i didn't do the oxi torch and oil dip though.... i would like to see some pics though!
