dash pad...can it be repaired instead of buying a $350 new one?
 

anyone out there have any idea if the dash pad can be fixed with some kind of filler or epoxy or something? i dont want to be cheesy and buy a pad cover nor do i want to shell out 350bucks for a new one. help?

a buddy of mine use fiberglass in his old pickup. it did not look bad. but it took him a long time to get it right.

oh we got another smartass on our hands. :goodjob: thanks for the info on the search button. i was asking for ideas and tips from others. i DID USE THE SEARCH BUTTON and came with nothing from this century. so i figured i would bring it back up and start new. i also didnt mean to post this here in this category. i found the area i needed. no need for ANYONE to respond.

Chill out man. Search works but you have to spend some time with it. People post "search" a lot because there are so many threads made everyday on topics covered and answered 100's of times, and most people seem to be to lazy or impatient to even try a search or two to find the info themselves. The search work better after you have some experience with it and know what and what not to type in the search. Too many words and detail can confuse the search engine and make it hard to find anything relivent. Seriously, calm down and don't shoot the messenger here, we don't need your attitude either, he's just trying to help.

im only going to explain myself once....i know how to use the search and i know what to look for. i came up with 2 guys who tried and FAILED. thats it. sooooo i proceeded to ask the question yet again. there were several people who asked the same question i am asking but NO ONE ANSWERED THEM. i figured i would bring the subject up one more time and see if anyone wanted to answer. if had found wut i was looking for in the search area, i would not have posted this thread. sooo:totopic: and i say again


HAS ANYONE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE DASH PAD WITH CRACK FILLER OR EPOXY OR STRIP THE PLASTIC OFF AND REPLACE IT? that is all i ask.

i didnt really do what most folks would do but on the corner of my dash pad had that chunk missing from it (like almost all third gens seem to have, must be from smacking there knees i think?) but i used a heat gun to loosen the vinyl off the foam and put a piece of black gorilla tape under it tucking it down (black interior) and put a tiny tiny bit of black silicone to hold the vinyl down on the gorilla tape, did it in august of last year and is hardly noticeable unless your looking for it and held up to me wanging my knee off it a few times. this might help i dont know but good luck

The link I posted took me about fifteen seconds to find, and it most certainly is from this century (as if that makes it any more relevant). I wasn't being a smartass; I just wanted to point out to some of our newer users that there's a very good chance your question has been answered already. No need to get upset over a bit of constructive criticism.

That said, our Search function isn't the best and if you're coming up dry, a Google search for your terms plus "site:thirdgen.org" might work a little better.
