Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Looking forward to seeing the finished product. |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Look about right! Nice job. I had trouble with my one bolt stripping out of the sheet metal. If I were to do it on my current car, I would probably be tack welding a nut on the underside, or using threaded body clips at the least. You might get yours positioned better though...I was flying blind when I did mine the first time haha. I still like the idea of the dual tanks. Coolant/washer fluid in place of the battery, and sticking the battery somewhere else... but that 4th gen set up is nice and clean!!! J. |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap awesome ill be doing this in a week. where did you get the template for marking/cutting? |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap I definitely plan on doing this soon to my car. Very clean, and my car never sees rain so I will be ditching the washer bottle all together. |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Very nice work. here is mine. i wanted my fill neck a little more hidden in the wheel well. https://youtu.be/ICXWEErXmr0 |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap My 4th gen coolant tank is tucked in the passenger fender, I'll get a picture tomorrow. |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Does anyone have pics of the 4th gen washer fluid bottle relocated? If so could you send me some or post pics? I'm concerned of the plastics that are in the nose. If removing will cause over heating issues! Thanks guys! |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Well here's mine. The only ducting left is the bottom piece. No overheating issues at all. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...ea6847d029.jpg Bottom piece (arrow) https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...7515850f5a.jpg |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Per bholmes request. I mounted mine from below, no hole required https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...12f6384ad2.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...c336b505fd.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...2de048577d.jpg |

Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Either method works well. I just dont dig making unnecessary holes/cutting if i can avoid it. Some think mine hangs too low, but i did mine back in 05 and its yet to be torn off bottom out anywhere. |

Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Not really, You can see it if you squat partways. It goes just about to the bottom of the GFX. |

Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap Someone here has done that. There are other threads on these 4th gen pieces. I think they used a ford part, but they didnt hide it IIRC. |
Re: fourth gen coolant tank swap For anyone interested, I made a pretty good video on installing a 4th gen Coolant overflow. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zPZHyh3kPNs https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...867bc32f1e.jpg |
