wiper motor delete idea I have always wanted to get rid of my wiper motor. It is just big and ugly in my eyes. This sparked me to look at other cars in shows to see what they do. I have seen many times, 69 camaros have smooth firewalls yet still retain wipers. After some searching, I found at least one guy using a VW Passat (I think) wiper motor that was mounted IN the cowl area. This seems like a viable option for me, but wanted to see if anyone here has done something similar. If I had it my way, I would just delete the wipers alltogeather. I don't plan on ever driving this car when it is not perfect out. But the state of MA says you need to have wipers, so it looks like they are staying, but I refuse to use that huge motor under the hood. Ideas? |
Re: wiper motor delete idea If it just has to pass a visual inspection you could remove the motor and all related gear and just thread a nut on the backside of the wiper arms to keep them in place. |
Re: wiper motor delete idea Yep I hear ya. Each year I get my car inspected, then I go home and remove the motor and tuck the custom harness I made under my dash. I have a red cap that I made, and just place it over the hole. It looks so much better! You can also replace our motor with a smaller motor from an 89-94 Nissan Maxima. |
Re: wiper motor delete idea How does it wire up? I don't have any wiring that is stock. Car is wired with painless harness. |

Re: wiper motor delete idea OK, I will do some searching. Thanks for the lead. I only need one speed. Just don't want to bother with that huge stock motor/wiring. |
Re: wiper motor delete idea Anyone who has wired the Nissan motor know what wires get voltage to get the one speed going? I am sure it is not hard to figure out, but just want to see if anyone knows already. I will just pick up a used motor on ebay. There are tons for around $20. |
Re: wiper motor delete idea i have a couple of nissan manuals about, mostly r32/r33/r34,s13/s14/s15 so if any of those help i can get wiring pin outs for you. |
Re: wiper motor delete idea Looking for the info of how to wire the Nissan motor to the thirdgen harness. |
Re: wiper motor delete idea same here post info/pics if possible |
Re: wiper motor delete idea Does anyone know which thread the nissan wiper motor swap is in? I can't find it |
Re: wiper motor delete idea I would go for a 4th gen wiper motor. It should be easy to retrofit into the 3rd gen, and if you get a 4th gen wiper switch, you can make it all function like stock. The 4th gen wiper motor is much smaller than what we have, plus they all do the park position like we need |
Re: wiper motor delete idea I know that there is someone who has used the Nissan motor. Just looking for some more info on it please. |

I thought you were already trying this? In the other thread you even posted a wiring diagram for the Nissan. |
Re: wiper motor delete idea Ive read (here) the later s10 motor also works. The 98-up passat looks alot like the current 5th gen camaro set-up.I would guess you need a wiper motor w/ at least as many wires to connnect to, since the 3rd gen w/delay has six (cover), plus the 3 on the motor end. Some of those are duplicate as they go to the cover, but other brands only have 2-3 wires. The s10 uses five.At least one on the 3rd gen is a ground. passat https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...b91c5d1685.jpg camaro https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...edf34c12d6.jpg |
