Gauging interest for sheet metal parts Good morning guys and gals! As the title says I'm here gauging interest on the demand for some custom aluminum parts for thirdgens. There's a guy here locally (Tampa,Fl) who would be willing to produce custom parts for the thirdgen community should the demand be high enough. Currently LRB Speed specializes in S chassis like 240s and such, hence the photos of his current products but I'm sure you can use your imagination. Not pictured below are aluminum gauge rings everyone seems to love so much. Also any suggestions are welcome prices typically range from $35-250 from what I've seen.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...02b6a4ec47.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...4233b08838.jpgRadio bezels and center console plates https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...632a05706d.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...c55fdbeb4f.jpgMinimalist door panels https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...5d4b050023.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...992b8f6b19.jpgDoor panels for speakers https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...79cd1e6d74.jpgBack seat deletes. Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts I've been eyeing one of their undertray aero packages for awhile for my track day miata. Need other safety equipment before I step up to aero mods. Be neat to see a splitter option for my formula firebird though! |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/ODU1WDE2MD..._id=880000500F 82-84 FIREBIRD FRONT GRILLE SET Could he make an improved version of these? Maybe adapt a fog/driving light into the blank (blocked) area? |

would there be enough demand for him to justify designing and making the piece. If he could do a set of functional louvers under $300 people would buy them and if they were $200 a set, everyone would have them. If he made the fog light area into a usable spot for brake duct he may have a market for the road race/autocross guys. The filler panels between the radiator and front bumper would be an easy piece to make, I believe that they are out of production again. A bolt in sheet metal battery box for the OE battery in the original location under $100 may sell. A box for an air filter in one of the trays would sell for the LS guys. |

Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts I agree with Tibo, louvers and the fill panel would be amazing and I would jump on that vs making my own panel and fixing up the louvers. |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts http://www.camarolouvers.com/store They charge $389 for a set.... All they are is a set of laser cut sheet metal with a center spine. No real reason that they should be that expensive. This guys has sold dozens of them. If your guy can do this for half the price he'll sell a lot and put the other guy out of business. Seriously, I would expect TIG welded aluminum for his price... |

I dont know why the louvers didnt cross my mind but when you look at what hes made for rx7s they only run $75 for a single up to $140 for both . check em out. If he makes a quality set at that price I'll buy the first set. $100-200 is what a used set of originals go for that are sunfaded and have broken mounting tabs. Have him make half a dozen sets and give a set to a senior thirdgen.org site member with a nice car that can make a testimonial thread. :waveman: |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts Well he's on the hunt for a z28 hood! So if anyone locally (Tampa, Fl) would be willing to let LRB borrow your hood for roughly two weeks you will more than likely get a set of functional vents out of it :) anyone else interested in a set of any other parts all suggestions are welcomed |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts idk. if he could make the t top divider. brand new these run for 300$+. if he could cut that drastically it be awesome. http://www.hawksmotorsports.com/cama...eel-t-top-bar/ |

Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts Interested in door panels and dash components |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts I agree on the louvers. I would buy a set if they were spot on with the originals but functional. |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts I bet he could be pretty successful with some aluminum door cards, especially if they accommodated factory hardware. An aluminum plate to replace the plastic shift plate for Firebirds would be cool too. A filler panel in front of the radiator would definitely sell well too. What about a functional rear diffuser? |

Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts That t top bar should be a good bit cheaper if its made out of aluminum |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts Radio Bezels and shiftier plates would be a great edition. Also lots of people delete their heater controls so a radio bezel that could install some 2" gauges would be in high demand./ |

Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts Very Interested in aluminum 1982 Door Sill Plates. |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts Subscribed. Interested to see some products and prices. I would be interested in a set of hood Louvers and brushed alum gauge cluster surround. |
Re: Gauging interest for sheet metal parts Rear diffuser and front skid plate would be great. Also functional Iroc hood louvers would be nice too. I have seen them but they are pricey. |
