New Fuel Line

I’m running a new fuel line on my 82 Camaro. Car is in full racecar mode. Fuel cell in very back and everything. How long should I order my fuel line? I’m going with a braided line. My filter and pump are right at the fuel cell so it would have to be a long line leading into the engine bay to the regulator. Where does everyone else run this line? The guy that built this car ran the line along the frame, up the passenger side wheel well and drill a hole through the wheel well but I’d rather run it a different way. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: New Fuel Line

I ran fuel line from the back of the car up to the front many, many years ago. With a front mounted fuel cell, it's a lot easier now.

Best suggestion, run new 1/2" hard line under most of the car. Use steel braid to connect to the pump/filter/cell and a little more to attach the hard line to the regulator.

@AlkyIROC Would I not be able to run a full braided line?

Re: New Fuel Line

You could but running a hard line is actually better and a lot cheaper.

@AlkyIROC, where would you run it into the engine bay. The guy that had this car before me ran it up into the passenger side wheel well and had a hole drilled out which caused a kink in the line which is why I have to replace it.

Run it where the OEM lines originally run.

Won't pass tech. Tried that last year. NHRA fail. The OEM lines are routed in the transmission tunnel. The second you switch to braided or any non-OEM line the routing is a no-go.

I ended up going along the subframe connector.

When I had a fuel cell in the rear, I'm pretty sure I ran them along the SFC also. My car hasn't had OEM lines since around 1999.
