Firehawk Clone Heres a partial Firehawk clone for you love birds, ...I mean bird lovers! Personaly I would have sank the money that went into the wheels into recovering the seats and a new dash, but hey......this is for sale and not too bad a price either. https://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/5514526336.html |
Re: Firehawk Clone I'm in the STL and I bought this car. It's rust free and straight. Paint is 15 footer. I drove it home from Nashville with the cruise control. Everything works and the car is unmolested. And yes the seats have been changed already. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...c3622af327.jpg |

Re: Firehawk Clone Any other pix of this car? |
Re: Firehawk Clone The hawk has undergone a lot. The 305 TBI and auto trans were pulled. A LT1 with LT4 hotcam and mild porting were installed with the t56 6speed. Exhaust was installed yesterday and I was able to drive the car for the first time since June when the project started. There is a vibration that wasn't there when I bought the donor car. I put a new clutch and flywheel in so I'm sure that is the culprit. Will be working on that and the interior during the next month. Fun car!https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...12e0fff678.jpgCustom bracket work https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...b6607f03b3.jpgStickers https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...f4ceffd6a4.jpgTOTL |
Re: Firehawk Clone Nifty, set up a build thread when you get a min, good luck with it. |

Re: Firehawk Clone The vibration was the new flywheel. Put a new one in and all is well. Interior should be done soon. Finally got to really drive it and it is quick and fun. The final tune will be done at the end of the month. I did a build thread. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...-firehawk.html |

It's not advertised, a guy I know bought it new & has it socked away (used now). He turned me down at $2500 quickly but still working on him. $2500 was obviously a little low (in his mind) but had to see where he was..... I can't wait to try my t-ram on my 383. |
Re: Firehawk Clone That is a cool car. Very nice I bet its fun to go through those gears! |
Re: Firehawk Clone A little update. Bought a 1989 GTA that had a t56 swap. The trans was bought new and only has 40,000 on it. Has the aluminum driveshaft and a 373 9 bolt in it. It had vented slotted rotors on all four corners. I thought they would be a good upgrade to my stock rotors. I looked closer once I got it home and it has 1LE brakes on the front. I sold the motor for what I paid for the car so lots of free parts. And yes good dash pad that is installed already that was mentioned earlier. The hawks Interior is all redone as well now. In a couple of weeks I will be swapping the trans rear end driveshaft and brakes. It is all coming together quite well. I put a 95 harness and computer on the 97 engine and all works good except that the roller rockers they used are noisy so the car is pulling timing bad. I will get it tuned in a few weeks. My brother is a tuner so that really helps in the budget. |
Re: Firehawk Clone UPDATE I got the car tuned and the engine went south. I bought a 383 stroker with trick flow heads and am in the process of installing the engine. Should be running by this Sunday. |
Re: Firehawk Clone Forgive me but other than the wheels & stickers, what makes this car a clone? |

Re: Firehawk Clone There is nothing wrong with having a motor/tans swap car - there are a whole list of incredible ones here on the board. But to refer to it as something it is not I think detracts from what you've/you're accomplishing with it. |
