Forsaken IROC-Z

Yesterday afternoon I had the disturbing opportunity of view a once beautiful 1986 blue IROC-Z, equipped with an L98 engine and T-Tops, essentially left to the elements. While the ride was still in tip top condition, the owner backed it against a warehouse wall, only partially covered, where is has remained for many years. He isn't quire sure but he thinks it was started 1.5 years ago. Without a doubt, it is the filthiest car I have ever personally seen; inside and out. It sits in an unpaved equipment yard covered with live oak trees which shed their organics to the ride below.

The owner remains very proud of her and her condition under the grime. From what I could see, she could still be brought back to be an incredible ride but time is not on her side. He refuses to sell despite many offers.

its sad to see cars go to waste and just get eaten away by the elements makes me mad there was a guy that i would pass his house everyday who had an original twister special mustang im not sure of the year (69 70) just sitting in his yard years and years went by and would never sell it and finally it was gone one day took it to get smashed and you just wonder why would people be so selfish to not take care of the car or put it into the hands of someone who appreciates the car and would massage it back to its glory of yester years

Yeah i know what you mean watson. On another sad story, I use to work at this one shop and walk to home when i was living with my parents. On the way home, i would walk by this one house that had a car with a torn cover parked outside. After my curiosity got the best of me, i took a peak under the tarp and it happen to be a 91-92 ttop forest green gta! Everything was there! What made me a bit peeved was that the car had like giant rocks on top of the cover, ON TOP OF THE Ttop glass! I'm sure the reasoning had to be to prevent the wind from blowing the cover off. After a couple of years sitting there, i had the nerve to go over to that person's house and talk with a old lady asking her what's the deal with the car. She told me that it belonged to her son and that he's out of state in college and that the car didn't run and he plans on doing work to it. She even gave me his number of his current location and see if i wanted to buy it off from him, (which i wasn't because i had my 87 T/A at the time and was doing work to it)....however the sad part was, a few months later after talking to the lady the house was torn down, the car gone, and a vacant lot became the spot for about a year till they built up a new home on it's property. So i don't even know what ever happen to that car again....just sad...

i know exactly how you feel. theres an iroc (not sure which year) with a berlinetta nose in my neighbors back yard just sitting in a corner. its a 5 speed with a 350 (stock with a 305) and a LSD and its been sitting there collecting rust with no tarp or car cover for the last 8 years. he keeps saying hes going to fix it and give it to his son when he turns 16, but i know this guys and he will NEVER get it fixed. i offer him cash every week but he wont give it up. id like to take and transfer my engine and my body panels over to the iroc since it has a 5 speed. only got 39,000 miles on it to. its a damn shame.

I hate when people just let cars rot, and refuse to sell them whats the point.

Yah, I watched a '55 Belair convertible rot down to nothing over the course of ten-fifteen years or so in Southern Indiana when I was younger. Some people - I guess if gives them a thrill to just say "no", instead of parting with a car, making some money and letting it go to someone who'll appreciate it. I also know where there is a Hemi Roadrunner - I know for a fact that it's owner has been dead for must be 25 years, the family won't sell it - I was home visiting recently, and was surprised to see it sitting just where it's been sitting since 1980 or so, outside . . .

There is a pre 91' model Iroc-Z by my house, has a cowl hood, blacked out tails, Silver GTA rims just sitting in the yard. I moved back to Florida in august(of 08') and it has been there since before I moved back, don't know how long exactly...have been very curious to how much or if the owner would let it go but I have no money anyway so it would be pointless for me to go with no money. Plus I don't care for camaros really, I only want Firebirds, but just to save it i'd sell the car itself or part it out if it's nothing special. Very nice car on the outside though.
