One down, One to go

Hello all. When I moved from Florida in 2007, I had to leave my Iroc and my Z28 at my parents house. I drove my 87 formula to Arkansas and everything was good. In 2009 I decided to quit driving a truck. I had some issues with the formula and was working to get her going again when the motor locked up. (don't know why, it ran fine one day, went out a few days later and it was locked up). I had to sell the formula to buy something to get back and forth to work. Anyway....3 weeks ago I flew to Florida and brought my Iroc home behind a U haul. Tomorrow morning the Z will be picked up, along with my 95 Thunderbird (4.6 with 7000 miles), and will be here next week.
I never thought that it would take almost 5 years to get them here. The Iroc is an 88 convertible and needs a complete restoration. The Z28 is a 91 and just had 2 injectors put in last week while I was there. I can't wait to be able to drive a 3rd gen again! :driving: Jaws

WOW, a 95 Thunderbird with 7k? I'll bet it's the nicest one in existence since there's not many of those left, and the ones that are left are usually in pretty poor condition. Better hold on to that one!

Thanks. The Thunderbird was my Grandmothers. She bought it new and drove it every day (1 mile to work and 1 mile home.) She quit driving a few years ago. It was repainted by Ford under warranty when it was about 6 months old. It's a really nice car, but has rust starting to form on the driver's door.

Uh oh! I'd get that rust fixed before it gets worse. Shame on grandma for driving such a pristine car in the salt ;)

That being said, you should have seen the amount of dents/dings/scuffs my grandmother had on her otherwise pristine 93 corolla with 27k that we sold a few years ago...

May I ask, what is so special about the T-Brids? My mom has a '97 that she bought new. About once per month, a stranger approaches her about buying it. She thinks its hilarious.

Navy, Grams lives on the west coast of Florida, no salt.
two-if-by-sea, many still think of those older Thunderbirds as the last real birds. If you go to those forums, those guys love the birds/cougars as much as we love our cars. I mean...if you really think about it, what is so special about MOST of our cars? My 87 formula had a whopping 140hp, power nothing, a poorly designed rear suspension, and lets not forget the whole "trailer park" stigma. And yet...to me..it was one of the neatest cars I've owned. The Thunderbird has 205hp, power everything, and an independent rear suspension.
I'm not saying one car is better then the other, I love them both. They just do things differently. Besides....when was the last time you saw a 17 year old, 7000 original mile car that wasn't sitting in someones garage collecting dust? My mom drove it once a week, and I plan to drive it as well.

The T-birds are cool, especially the mid80s turbo coupes and the 89+ supercoupes. A friend of mine had one of each, his turbo coupe was pretty much just as cool as a thirdgen in my opinion, and the supercoupes fly. Glad to hear you'll have your thirdgens back, I can't imagine driving anything else!

My neighbor has both a Cougar and a Thunderbird from that body style (mid-90s). If I had to guess, he's probably dumped $20k into each of them...every time I go outside, he's in one of his garages working on one of them. Both are ridiculously clean/nice cosmetically, have roots superchargers, high-end sound systems, full suspension, etc. I didn't think much of the cars at the time, but now that they're getting hard to find, I think they're kinda cool.

I'd think they were REALLY cool if I wasn't a diehard GM guy though...

Can we keep this on topic and related to 3rd gens and not Tbirds? Thanks

Sorry Mr. Scott.
My 91 is supposed to be here at 8am. It WAS supposed to be here last night but......what can I say. I have some pics of the 88, the 91, and a buddies 85 firebird I'll have to post when I find them again. I can't wait to get behind the wheel again.

new update

The Z28 arrived last Saturday. I've been driving it back and forth to work since. As stated earlier, we put 2 new injectors in it a couple of weeks ago. Today I put gas in it, drove it about 5 to 8 miles, and it started running like crap. I'm thinking the issue might be some old gas, but I'm not sure. It runs decent until I get into it, then it falls on it's face. I'll update as I try to figure out what's going on with the car.
