Z28 logo Speedometer 140 vs Original OEM 140 (145) SPEEDOMETER

I've researched these speedometer and cannot find any solid information on this variation. I have both but like the Z28 logo & also like the reset for the trip being at 9 o'clock vs the standard at 6 o'clock. Also like the fact that at the 40 mph mark it is in line and not bumped out for a.screw. The needle.is different in shape.& length, the odometer & trip are also reversed
Anyone else have these and any solid information of this variation?

GM/dealer over-the-counter piece, IIRC. A search should provide more info.

Thank you James, I did searches & came up with one thread but not much info. Came across the 160 speedo thread too. Lots more info on it

Thank you James C. I read through the thread & luckily I got the whole cluster complete with lens. I would have not known this little lens could have been an issue.
I guess they quit making these by 84? Being I have an 89 & 87 this might not even work in either but trying to put together a car that has unique cool items from all years. Kind.of the best of the best.
How common are these.

Here is a link to another 140 Z28 speedometer and weird tack I found in a 1984. I never have found out where the tach came from. Maybe somebody knows more. You can click on the pictures and they get bigger.

If the driventrain hasn't been swapped around, the speedo should read correctly in either car.

Trip re-set button on the LEFT is for 82-83 Speedo clusters. Staring in 84 the speedo head was re-designed internally; the trip/odometer were moved and so was the Trip re-set button.

Thank you for the reply. So this is an early over the counter GM unit?
I wonder if anyone else has one of these Z28 logos speedometer with reset & mileage/odometer in a different position?

I have been wanting one for a while just because it's unique 3rd gen stuff.

They were a dealer option, but at some point they were sold through Classic Industries as well.

We're there variations? I'm surprised Classic Industries sold these. Guess they ran out. I guess I'll sock this cluster away & use the OEM

I've done some more research.
Here is the over the counter 140 speedo I have. * note reset buttom at 9 o'clock, odometer, trip are reversed plus at the 40 MPH they didn't bump out for the screw like OEM ones. This one has Z28 logo. I'd like to see a non logo 140 speedo in this style & also looking for a 160 speedo if anyone has one

There was ALSO a Classic Industries Version that had a MILLION MILE odometer. From what I've read there was also a Z28 logo version of this speedo that I have not acquired a picture of yet

There was another SPEEDO that was a 160 MPH version. With a million mile odometer. What I've researched over just a couple days is there isn't a thread that covers all these.

Then there was this Gail Banks 200MPH version.

Yeah they made that Z28 one due to the stocker only going to 85. Guys just felt lame with that number as the highest on their dial :p

I, too, have the z28 140 mph speedo. The guy I bought the car from said he thinks it was dealer installed when it was new. Did the dealer have to dial it up to current mileage? Or did they put them in with zero miles?
Chris

*Edit: Guess I should've mentioned that it's an '85 Iroc.

Also, the temperature gauge is in Celsius and there's also a moon phase indicator. I wonder if this panel is from an export model?
