Does my car has WS6 package? I just got it a few weeks ago, and it is a 1992 formula 350. The VIN Number says so and well, how it looks I guess. There's no sticker saying its a formula however. But anyways, my wheel hubs shows WS6 on them and theres a badge by the passenger side dash that says [Performance Suspension]. Does this mean I have the WS6 package? |

Re: Does my car has WS6 package? Nice car man! I really like the 91-92 Formulas. WS6 cars have fast ratio steering box, bigger diameter sway bars, and I think better shocks and springs. |

Re: Does my car has WS6 package? The VIN itself does not specifically spell out Formula as there is no code in the VIN for a Formula. The Formula and Base Firebird shared the same 1G2FS prefix. Online decoders don't know the difference and you will see them mixed. You need to look for the W66 code to make sure it's a Formula. Performance Suspension badge does not mean WS6. The badge was included with the upgraded suspension above base suspension, in addition to WS6. Look for the SPID sticker on the back side of the locking luggage compartment door. Look for W66 (Formula). If it's a Formula, it will also have WS6 as it was standard. All Formulas are WS6.

If it has a TPI motor (8th digit of the VIN being F or 8) and the 1G2FS prefix it has to be a Formula, and then would have to have WS6 |

It has 8 for the 8th and has the 1G2FS for prefix. So, that means confirmed Formula WS6? |
Re: Does my car has WS6 package? You can use some reasoning but my point to readers was there is no digit in the VIN that denotes the VIN is a Formula over a Base Firebird. He said his VIN decoded as a Formula, which only GM or Compnine can give that type of answer through actual records. Your typical VIN "decoder" isn't going to be able to tell you as it will tell you Firebird/Formula, just as they "decode" Trans Am/GTA and then people think they have a GTA when they actually may not. And because the Formulas, unfortunately, didn't come standard with the top engines, it's not always that easy. But yeah, if you have your knowledge going in, you can reasonably conclude such.

Re: Does my car has WS6 package? The difference between the WS6 and FE1 & F41 - Larger Sway Bars - Gas filled shocks & Struts - quick ratio steering box - Stiffer Springs (IIRC) It is purely a handling/cornering package from 1987-1992... Prior to 1986 WS6 also included Rear Disc Brakes, 1987 & UP, Rear Disc Brakes were a separate option. Formulas are the best... Lighter, faster, more nimble, the GTO of the 1980's |
