My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum I got a call from the owner of my old '82 Pace Car. He's letting the car go and wanted me to know. It's running across the block at Mecum Chattanooga on Friday October 14th. I may go to Chattanooga and meet with the owner to see it go across the block. That is, if I don't buy it back from him first. If anybody's interested in buying it, the auction can be cancelled, so let me know. Otherwise, I might be back in a Camaro. I love the way this car looks and he's put no miles on it in the 1.5 years he's had it. Hmmmmmmm. https://www.mecum.com/lots/CT1022-53...e-car-edition/ https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...2717736ebc.png |

Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum You only live once. In my opinion, go get it! |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum I've always liked that car. Go for it. |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Get it, Scott! |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Very special car and will only go up in value. Go get it! |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Buy it! The Pace car is one of my favorite Thirdgens. I had one many years ago that I bought out of a storage unit, but it had been USED. |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Beautiful proportions to those cars. Classics from day 1. |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Unlike a lot of auction vehicles, you will know 100% what you are getting if you buy this back. If you have a desire to own it again, I say go for it! |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Buy it back. |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Passed this on August 27th, 2020 somewhere on the interstate. Great looking car. Immediately made me want one. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...41f14470cd.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...cd986afb8b.jpg |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Did you regret selling it, or is it just tantalizing that it's up for sale again? The latter will pass.... |

Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum I thought this car once belonged to your father, Scott, so there's probably a little another reason to have? |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum I had both cars that didn't get driven. I decided that I should get rid of at least one. The pace car sold first and I was left with a car that didn't get driven because of it's detailed show status. Mentally, I couldn't just start driving the IROC-Z when it's been a show piece for the 20 years I had it. If I sold the IROC-Z first, I probably would have kept the pace car. Not because it was my father's car, but because I love the 82-84 styling and the pace car just looks stunning. My car had 29k miles and a repaint, so it was already at driver status, but having both cars, I didn't put the money it needed into it. |

Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum You can buy the car back, but you have to double the mileage and you are obligated to do one (1) burnout per month, every month. |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum The car crossed the block today and sold for $26k. The seller was ecstatic as he wasn't sure he'd get what he paid. He sold it for almost 50% more than he paid. Good sale. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...efee826e7a.png |

Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum Probably be $35k next year? Kind of amazes me how much attention third gens are getting now-a-days. |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum The 82 pace car pricing is all over the place. I've seen low mile cars sell for top dollar, and I've seen low mile cars sell for $12k. I've seen high mile cars sell for the same $12k, while other high mile cars sell in the $20k range. When I sold it, I had offers of $12k from many people. Then I had a few that thought my price was fantastic. I thought I sold it for a fair price and I'm very surprised an almost 30k mile example with a repaint sold for this much. There were other vehicles selling for much less than expected as the market is shifting, so this was a surprise to many. |
Re: My old '82 Pace Car at Mecum It was a T-top manual trans.car though, and that is a big draw for the third gens. And it sure stands out in a crowd of cars too. |
