firebird dash woes
 

Any of you guys with firebirds have a creaky dash? THere is a creaky sound that I just can't pinpoint but it is definitely to do with the grey gauge bezel trim piece. I now think it may be that piece creaking on the actual gauge cluster clear plastic but am not sure. It comes and goes but has been back for a while now and is driving me nuts but it is hard to troubleshoot when you are driving! And of course you can't hear it when figiting with it when parked Anyone else have this sort of thing?

had that in a RX-7 I totaled a few years back. my solution wa to guess what was creaking nd get some thin stick on foam kindl like weatherstripping nad stick that EVERYWHERE there was a plastic on plastic surface. never did figure out where the creak was coming from, but after doing about 2/3rds the dash that way the creak was gone.

I used 1/4 wide 1/8th inch thick foam if I remember correct....

That's my plan once its back on the road.

Actually I have tried some of that already and no luck so far!

My dash was squeaking where the dash pad touched the winshield. I went to a hobby center (Hobby Lobby is a chain in my area) and bought 2 yards of 1" black velcro. Then I separated the two halves of the velcro. I took the soft and fuzzy side (the 'loop' side) and applied it all the way across the foward edge of the dash pad. With what I had left over I also went down the sides where the dash contacts the a-pillar. NO MORE SQUEAKS! With the dash pad installed, you can't see the velcro at all.
