monster tach mounting location was planning on installing a 5" tach and was looking around for a good spot. I don't think there is much room on the steering column, plus I use my tilt each time I get in/out and it would hit the top of the dash anyway. Anyone with a good mounting location along with any other aftermarket gauge locations ie: a radio delete panel or brackets hanging from the two top center vents. Pictures would be good if any... |
i put it under the center vents on the dash. Some of my buddies run it on the dash all the way to the left near the pillar, different strokes for different folks basically. |
I like it under the center vents also . Looks good and no holes in the dash pad . |
Me also |
so what kind of bracket would you use since it would have to be mounted with the bracket on top of the tach, one that is supplied with the tach or something fabbed... |

A Honduh would be a good spot... :p:lmao: I mounted mine on top of the dash all the way to the left under the pillar. It looks pretty good there, b/c I have teh pillar gauges and my tags on the windsheild sort of block it.....sort of. |
Re: monster tach mounting location ok so I finally got it all done. What took so long was fabbing up the gauge panel where the radio used to be. It was harder to make than I thought it would since I wanted everything perfectly aligned. I'm happy with it and beats staring at the empty hole anymore... http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...gaugestach.jpg |
Re: monster tach mounting location nice job , looks good  |
Re: monster tach mounting location my tach is mounted in a goffy spot that my friends hate right beside the center console by my gas pedal leg i like it |
Re: monster tach mounting location mine is mounted rite infront of the old tach.. looks good there imo.. shift lite is somewhat hidden... |
Re: monster tach mounting location thats originally where I'd like to have put it, but I'm always using my tilt and for me it would have been hitting the dashpad and there was plainly just no room. I also thought about the A-pillar but since I have a cowl I would have been eliminating even more visibility from my view... |
Re: monster tach mounting location i have no problem with my tilt stearing.. only thing that its in the way of is turning the key but u get used to it i can get a pic if ud like i to have a cowl hood thats why i put mine there |
Re: monster tach mounting location yeah I'd like to see a pic 'cause if I move mine to the same location it could free up some more room for more gauges... |

Re: monster tach mounting location 1 Attachment(s) Here is how I did mine. Shift light in the cigarette lighter hole, tach in the hole where the stock one was. |
Re: monster tach mounting location that looks like a clean way to do it, nice job. I ran all my wires through the cigarette lighter hole though and I dont feel like rewiring it, but that's a way I would never have thought to do... |
Re: monster tach mounting location 1 Attachment(s) Mine is under the center vents, however I mounted it to the side of the dash (next to the cigarette lighter). I also flipped my shift light to the other side. Then I just tucked in the wires behind the radio trim bezel. All I need is a short piece of black split loom to hide the short length of wiring between the tach and bezel, I'm just too lazy to get around to it. |
Re: monster tach mounting location do anybody have pictures of 5" monster instaled in firebird? i`ve seen many in camaros but how does it looks in bird? thanks |
