Russet and other oddball interior colors help
 

Hey guys, have a question.
What do you do when the interior of your car is kinda rare and you cannot find
the correct replacement color for it?
I have looked quite a few places and have never seen russet (kinda faded orange) available for purchase. What are my other options?
I don't really want to change the interior color from stock if I can keep from it.
The driver side seat is ripped pretty good, and the carpet has faded quite a bit.
As far as the carpet, I could just go black with it as its not that big of a deal but the other stuff panels and seats id like to keep it close to original as possible. If I customize the entire interior in a different color, then we are talking $$$$$ which I don't really have a budget for at the moment.

That's my original post. The Russet carpet, headliner, sail panels, and sunvisors are the original russet color, but I still haven't located russet color door panels or upholstery. Might have to have them custom made.

Yes, he found the noted items on the ACC website and special ordered some of the others. The only thing both of you need to find is the door panels and upholstery.

I don't know what the URL is but I would try having them send you samples of everything first. Remember though what you have may be faded so compare it to material that may be under the plastic trim or something similar.

Right...

If I can't find the original stuff I may do it in orange. I think I can find orange..
or at least hope so. Its closer to orange than any other color.
That will give me an excuse to paint the car infernal orange metallic or something....lol :nod:

Lol, I just remembered that some paint shops can match paint and put professional paint in a pressurized can. I have noticed that the exterior and upholstery has a pink hue to it, or at least it appears that way to me. It could be also from fading too.

I contacted Classic Industries today on this issue...
Before I called them I did a quick search on the classic site..
All they have for russet is visors, sail panels, headliner,
hatch carpet. Its odd that they have these few items but not any of the major
key items like full carpet and seat covers. Really bows wind.
I called them and they don't stock anything as far as seat covers or full carpet. I got a car id like to keep as much as stock as possible but probably wont able to be if I try to fix it into a show car as it used to be when it was new. But now if I change colors ill end up
replacing about 85% of the interior just to the issue with the color non availability then it wont even be correct original any more. Makes me wanna scream. I guess now I need to talk to a upholstery shop to see my options and what is least costly. Maybe I can die all the parts and covers. :huh:

I got a full carpet set from Classic for my Russet 1985 Z28. They had to make some calls and create a part number for it, but they get it from ACC so you can order directly from ACC if you wanted. I just ordered 3 yards of extra cut pile in Russet too, so I can recarpet kick panels and stuff.

I never could find new upholstery or door panels in those colors. Yesterday I sent a sample piece to a place in FL so they could see if they have anything close in "Ultra Leather". They don't have anything in carpet or original material. Discontinued from their vendor as well. I just want to find a color that is similar for the upholstery and upper door panels. Everything else is covered in new Russet.

EDIT: If you want to get it through Classic, call them and give them ACC color code 4896 for the full carpet set. I went into their store in CA with that number and they ordered it from ACC for me. Probably just be easier to order directly from ACC though.

Cool So I can get at at least the carpet then? What was the url for the site again?
Maybe some day they will have covers for our cars. I might go ahead and see about getting the carpet done. Thanks a lot man! :thanks:

You bet. Last night my extra carpet arrived by UPS. Matches the Russet carpet set, so now I have enough carpet to do my kickpanels, lower door panels, seat backs, and rear hatch area. About $100 for 6'x9' section directly from ACC.
