floor repairs?
 

im working on my 89 RS and i have a bad section about 2-3" across and 2" wide right where the driver puts his left foot. the carpet was bad really bad and it had worn through on that side. it destroyed the paint and we all know what happens next. i cleaned up and there is still metal in that spot but it looks like swiss cheese in that section, the rest of the floor is in decent condition execpt for a couple of pins holes, i think my t top gaskets leak. will fiberglass matte provide a durable repair on an otherwise solid floor. i dont really car about originality; its under the carpet but i want to prevent this from getting any worse its a small area and i dont want to become a big problem. the rest of the floor is solid still painted with only the mentioned areas being problem areas. i do not want to start cutting pieces out of an otherwise solid floor. i want paint the top and bottom of the floor, apply fiberglass matte to both sides and then paint over the top of that to seal it up.

another issue, i broke one of seat bolts when i removed the drivers seat, it just snapped off. what is the easiest way to repair this. i started to remove the bracket, its going to be a job to remove it. the think the only way to remove that is grind the bracket down where it is spot welded and use a chisel to separate it from the floor, not really an easy job. is there a better way? i dont suppose i can bolt the seat down with a sheet metal bolt. is there a way to fix this without removing that bracket?

You might explore POR-15, their putty and mesh. I used it to good effect several years ago (in the same spot) and all's well.

what about the seat bracket? do i have to remove it to fix the broken stud?
