Question for those who fiberglassed their dash pad...

I have read several threads where guys have used fiberglass to refurb their dash pads. In each one they have applied bondo body filler on top of the glass. Can't fiberglass be sanded smooth enough to paint? I used to use fiberglass on RC airplanes I built as a kid and thought I remembered sanding it smooth and painting it??

Thanks

I fiberglassed mine and you can read the thread here:

You can sand down the fiberglass as long as you use enough fiberglass. What you would probably need to do to ensure you dont have any of the mat/weave hairs coming through is to lay the mat on and add your fiberglass and let it cure. Then just add more fiberglass resin only again on top. What I ended up doing at a member's suggestion was to make that fiberglass resin/body filler milk shake slurry stuff. Basically mix together your resin and add in some body filler to get your desired consistency. That worked well. Then I just used a skim coat of body filler and a bunch of spot filler.
